Our Classes

Our 45-minute classes meet once a week for 9 weeks. Each class includes songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. Music Together classes are presented as informal musical experiences - developmentally appropriate for children and fun & easy for parents and caregivers - regardless of their own musical ability. Two CDs and a Songbook are included! Engage your infant, delight your toddler, and amaze yourself at how much fun music class can be! Scroll down to learn more about the various classes we offer.

Mixed-Ages

This is the essential Music Together class, one that a child can attend from birth to five - and through all nine song collections. Child development researchers recommend grouping children in a variety of ages because this fosters natural, family-style learning. Younger children enjoy watching and imitating older ones, older children learn by leading younger ones, and parents are happy because they can all attend class together. Each child participates as they choose in singing, moving, chanting, listening, watching, and exploring instruments. Any caregiver - parent, grandparent, nanny - can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important musical experience!

Babies Class

Every child's development benefits from early exposure to music and movement. Because the early months are so important, Music Together offers two options for babies. Babies eight months and younger at the time of registration may attend a Mixed-Age class, whether registered on their own, or attending free with an older brother or sister. Babies eight months of age or younger may also attend the Babies Class, specially designed for parents who want to learn as much as possible about their infant's musical development. Meet other families with newborns and learn some fascinating musical activities that you can recreate at home with your child.
Music Together Preschool
Imagine a preschool where Music Together is part of your child's core curriculum!

A school where.........

Music Together specialists teach music and movement classes weekly in cooperation with the child's classroom teachers.

Classroom teachers follow through on the weekly sessions, adapting activities to their curriculum needs and interests. Recordings, songbooks, and teaching materials are provided for classroom use.

Children "bring the music home" for parent/child musical play, sharing the songs and activities learned at school.

Children learn from the model of music participation set by both parents and classroom teachers.

The joy of extended family music at home and in school creates a natural circle of learning that builds parent/child, parent/teacher, and parent/school relationships.
